POLITEHNICA Bucharest Participates in AI for Good 2026 Global Summit in Geneva

POLITEHNICA Bucharest represented Romania at the AI for Good 2026 Global Summit, held in Geneva and organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), United Nations agencies and the Government of Switzerland.

The summit brings together policymakers, researchers, technology leaders and international organisations to address the opportunities and challenges associated with artificial intelligence and its impact on society, education, research and the global economy.

During the summit, POLITEHNICA Bucharest contributed to discussions on “AI in Education, Research and Skills Development” and “AI Foundation: Digital Trust and AI Infrastructure for All”, highlighting the evolving role of universities in the development and responsible adoption of artificial intelligence.

The discussions emphasised the need to strengthen the connection between education, research, technological infrastructure and industry, while equipping students and researchers with the advanced digital skills required by emerging technologies.

The participation also highlighted Romania's growing capacity to contribute to the global digital economy through major strategic technology and research initiatives. Among these is the RO AI Factory, hosted by POLITEHNICA Bucharest as part of the European EuroHPC initiative, alongside national initiatives such as the Romanian Artificial Intelligence Hub (HRIA), the RoNaQCi quantum network, NanoIC and the Hydrogen Hub.

Through its participation in AI for Good 2026, POLITEHNICA Bucharest reaffirmed its commitment to advancing artificial intelligence research and education and to strengthening Romania's role in the development of Europe's future digital and technological ecosystem.
