POLITEHNICA Bucharest Hosts High-Level Event on Frontier Research in Romania

The campus of POLITEHNICA Bucharest hosted the high-level event “Boosting Frontier Research in Romania”, bringing together representatives of the European research community, academia, policymakers and institutional partners to discuss the future of frontier research and scientific excellence in Romania.

The discussions focused on the role of frontier research in shaping the European Union’s strategic priorities, as well as on ways to increase the participation of Romanian researchers in European Research Council (ERC) funding programmes. Participants also addressed the need to reduce existing gaps and develop a stable, predictable national research ecosystem capable of supporting scientific excellence at the highest international standards.

A highlight of the event was the participation of Maria Leptin, President of the European Research Council, whose presence at POLITEHNICA Bucharest provided an important opportunity for open dialogue on strengthening research excellence and supporting high-impact scientific initiatives.

The event brought together researchers, academic representatives, policymakers and institutional partners, both on campus and online, fostering dialogue on concrete measures to transform ambitious research ideas into projects and strategic technologies.
