Lecture on Putnam Competition and Mathematical Problem Solving

The Department of Mathematical Methods and Models within the Faculty of Applied Sciences at POLITEHNICA Bucharest invites students and members of the academic community to a special lecture delivered by Dr. Cezar Lupu, from the Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications and Tsinghua University, China.

The lecture, titled “Experience as a (shadow) Putnam Coach in the USA and China. Anatomy of a Contest Problem,” will take place on Monday, January 19, at 6:00 PM, in the Senate Hall, Rectorate Building.

During the event, Dr. Lupu will share insights from his 10 years of experience coaching students for the Putnam Competition, one of the most prestigious undergraduate mathematics competitions in North America.

The lecture will also include a detailed discussion of a selected mathematical problem from the 2007 Putnam Competition (B2), offering participants an opportunity to explore the reasoning and problem-solving strategies behind a challenging contest problem.
