EELISA Takes Significant Steps Towards EELISA 3.0

EELISA has taken significant steps towards the next phase of the Alliance following the Governing Board meetings held at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in Madrid.

The meetings marked an important milestone in strengthening EELISA’s institutional framework and long-term development. Key decisions and commitments included:

• Approval of a new Sustainability and Financial Model, paving the way for the future creation of an EELISA legal entity.
• Appointment of Christian Lerminiaux as the new EELISA Executive Vice-Chair for Academic Affairs.
• Signature of the EELISA Declaration on Advancing Open Science, reaffirming the Alliance’s commitment to open access, responsible research assessment and citizen engagement.
• Signature of the Joint Statement on EELISA Communities, reaffirming Communities as a strategic pillar of the Alliance and promoting stronger institutional support, student leadership and partnerships with industry and civil society.

These developments come as EELISA continues to expand, with 76 EELISA Communities, six European Degree initiatives under development, and more than 6,750 students, staff and faculty members actively engaged across the Alliance.

With these new commitments, EELISA 3.0 is taking shape, strengthening the foundations for deeper institutional cooperation, open science and community-driven initiatives across European higher education.
