Turkish Language Course
About the course
The course is offered through the Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages and is delivered by a qualified instructor specialized in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language.
The instructor holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and Turkish, a Master’s degree in Turkish Studies, and a PhD in Educational Sciences, with expertise in language education, curriculum development, and intercultural communication.
The course is open to all POLITEHNICA Bucharest students interested in learning the Turkish language and discovering Turkish culture.
Initially, the university will offer one Beginner (A1) course for students with no previous knowledge of Turkish.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion. The course also prepares students for internationally recognized Turkish language proficiency examinations, such as the Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS).

In this course you will:
- Develop practical communication skills in Turkish.
- Learn Turkish vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and sentence structure.
- Read and write simple texts.
- Communicate confidently in everyday, academic, and basic professional situations.
- Develop intercultural communication skills.
- Gain knowledge of Turkish culture and contemporary society.
- Participate in interactive speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities.
- Join Turkish cultural events, workshops, and networking activities whenever available.

Duration: One semester (15 weeks).
- 2 hours per session;
- 2 sessions per week;
- Total: 60 hours.
One group of maximum 25 students.
1 August – 15 September 2026
The course is open to all POLITEHNICA Bucharest students from all study cycles. No previous knowledge of Turkish is required.
Selection will be based on document screening if the number of applicants exceeds the available places.
Applicants must submit:
- Curriculum Vitae;
- Motivation Letter;
- Transcript of Records.
Students who are already enrolled (not just pre-admitted or admitted) as first year students in the academic year 2026-2027 must upload the following documents together as one PDF document in the ”Transcript of Records” section:
- High school graduation diploma;
- Proof of enrolment in a faculty of POLITEHNICA Bucharest;
- Transcript of records for high school years.

Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Communicate at CEFR A1 level in Turkish.
- Introduce themselves and participate in everyday conversations.
- Read and write simple texts.
- Understand basic Turkish grammar and vocabulary.
- Demonstrate awareness of Turkish culture and intercultural communication.
- Use Turkish in basic academic and professional contexts.
Teaching method
The course follows the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Teaching methods include:

- Listening and speaking practice;
- Reading and writing activities;
- Multimedia resources;
- Cultural workshops;
- Practical communication exercises.
Assessment
- Class participation – 20%;
- Homework and assignments – 20%;
- Mid-term assessment – 20%;
- Final written examination – 20%;
- Final oral examination – 20%.
Students who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion.
