Starting with this academic year, the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest in partnership with British Council launches the official testing of English language for students:

  • aptis
    The Aptis ESOL test (computer based) targets the Master students and offers an internationally recognized certificate of English language skills.

British Council Certificates are provided by POLITEHNICA Bucharest free of charge!

What is the Aptis Certificate?

Obtained after an official exam, the certificate attests the skills of English language according to the European Reference Framework (CEFR) and the level reached by the candidate in each of them (from A1 to C1).

The Aptis ESOL certificate is a reference indicator of English language knowledge and serves for employment abroad or in Romania, for enrolling to studies or for obtaining an Erasmus Scholarship.

What do the tests consist of?

The Aptis ESOL computer-based test consists of 5 assessments: Core (grammar and vocabulary) 25 minutes, reading 60 minutes, listening 30 minutes, writing 45 minutes and speaking 10 minutes.

The English Score mobile based test consists of 3 assessments:

  • Core (grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening) - 40 minutes;
  • Speaking - 20 minutes;
  • Writing - 30 minutes.

Where do the tests take place?

The Aptis ESOL test will take place physically at the university. All Master students will be informed by e-mail about the exact hour and location.

When is the testing?

The Aptis ESOL test will take place between May 5 - 13, 2025.

When is the certificate issued?

The Aptis ESOL certificate is physically issued in approximately 30 days. The faculty will inform you when you can pick it up.
