1. Visa and immigration conditions
Do you want to study in Romania and you have the citizenship of a country outside the European Union or the European Economic Area? For starters, you'll need to join UPB and be accepted The next step is getting the long-term visa for studies at the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania. (See the list). We recommend that you allocate enough time for the formalities for obtaining the visa.

2. The Romanian Language Learning Program
This study program is developed for the foreign students who do not speak Romanian and who wish to attend university or postgraduate studies in Romania.
The course takes place during one academic year (two semesters).
The curriculum for the Preparatory Year provides for the study of the following compulsory subjects, for a period of two semesters:
Semester I
  • - Romanian language, levels A1-A2
  • - Elements of Romanian culture and civilization
    Semester II
    • - Romanian language, level B1(introduction to specialized languages)
      Following the passing of the examinations for all the subjects studied during the two semesters, at the end of the preparatory year a Graduation Certificate, necessary for admission in university and postgraduate education in Romania.
      The Romanian language course aims at acquainting foreign students with different specialized languages, depending on the profile chosen for further studies in Romanian (technical, economic, philological, legal, medical), the acquisition of skills for the correct use of the structures specific to the language, enhancing the linguistic skills and linguistic performance by imposing the learning of a specialized language.
      3. Study programs at UPB
      UPB offers a variety of bachelor, master and doctoral study programs through the 15 faculties and the 14 doctoral schools. You can choose a study program in Romanian, English, French or German.       5. Healthcare
      All the students attending the UPB courses receive medical assistance. For the international students, EU or EEA citizens, they shall submit the European Health Insurance Card to the healthcare provider.

      The foreign students who are not citizens of EU or EEA, shall submit a set of documents to the Health Insurance Fund of Bucharest to obtain the right to healthcare in Romania.

      Admission Students EU and EEA

      Citizens of the EU Member States who apply for admission to the Romanian education system benefit from the same conditions as the Romanian citizens, having the same tuition fees as the Romanian students..
      In order to obtain the recognition of studies, the candidates shall submit to the Politehnica University of Bucharest the following documents:
      • The filled in application form
      • Certified copy of the high school diploma
      • Certified copy of the university diploma and the academic record (for master’s degree or doctoral degree studies)
      • Personal identification document: passport (copies of pages 1, 2, 3, 4) / identity card (ID).
      The documents written in languages other than English or French shall be translated into Romanian or English.
      The fee for the recognition of the study papers is of RON 50 and can be paid either by bank transfer or by postal order.
